To introduce the new technologies in the industry to engineering students, SMC Philippines hosted a Mechatronics seminar at the College
of Engineering Learning Resource Center (COELRC) on September 26. C o m p a n y r e p r e s e n t a t i v e s explained the importance of
the concepts of hydraulics and pneumatics, and their application to the industry. They also presented hydraulic, pneumatic, and automation
equipment used in the actual engineering practice. The participants were also given the chance to acquire a copy of the software capable of
making diagrams of hydraulic setups.“ T h e mechatronics seminar enlightened me of the possible paths that I might take after graduation,”
said Jerille Ann Patricia Y. Cabalbag, a fifth year Mechanical Engineering student. “This integrated training in industrial automation helped me
grasp the concepts behind hydraulics and pneumatics,” she added. Third to fifth year electrical and mechanical engineering students of the college attended the said seminar.
